Family Committee

​

The Family Committee at the Kenora Anishinaabe-Kweg Aboriginal Head Start Preschool Program is responsible for planning special events, fundraisers, voting on policy changes, and encouraging family involvement from all families.

 

At the beginning of each year we will have a general meeting with all of the parents and guardians attending the program. At this meeting the family committee will be nominated and elected.

 There are seven positions available: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Members.

​

 We require a minimum of 5 committee members in attendance to make majority decisions.

​

 The Family Committee meets a minimum of once a month. Child Care, transportation and a meal will be provided for all families. We will have no meetings in June, July, August, and December.

Parent and Family Involvement

​

In order to secure your child’s spot in the Preschool room you must contribute 4 hours a month of volunteer service in our program.

How you can volunteer:

Join the parent committee

Attend monthly parent committee meetings

Participate in centre events

Be involved in the classroom

 

Hours are totaled at the end of each month to ensure you have accumulated your required hours. In addition, at the end of the year, if you have exceeded the minimum required hours you will receive a gift of appreciation.
